Fallout 4 Funny Melee Weapon Mod
In the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout 4, there aren't actually many rules to follow, society isn't what it used to be, and you'll have to survive by any means necessary. Want to become a bloodlust killer? Go ahead! Want to be a post-apocalyptic superhero? You can be that too!
One way you can get through a swamp of enemies is with melee weapons. This type will allow players to engage in closer and more physical combat. So, if you're looking to upgrade your melee character build or just want to see what else is out there, go ahead and check out some of the melee weapons you might be missing.
Types Of Melee Weapons
While all melee weapons can be used in close range combat, there are three types you'll encounter during your adventures in the Commonwealth.
- Bladed: Bladed melee weapons have a high chance of dismembering the limbs of human-like enemies. Damaging the limb and disarming the enemy in the process. This type of weapon benefits from the Strength and Big Leagues perks.
- Blunt: These weapons have a greater chance of staggering enemies. Like bladed weapons, blunt ones also benefit from the Strength and Big Leagues perks.
- Unarmed weapons: These types of weapons can't be equipped when using a power-armor. Nevertheless, they benefit from the Iron Fist and Strength perks.
Zao's Sword - Bladed
Sometimes you want a weapon because it's incredibly powerful, and sometimes you want to use a weapon just because it looks cool. The best thing you can do is to go out there and find a weapon the does both, and Zao's sword is precisely that.
This bladed weapon has a 16 damage and a medium swing speed while sporting a 7th-century style. This weapon has historical value, as it belonged to Zao, the captain of the Yangtze submarine and an active participant in the Great War. You can get his sword during the side quest "Here There Be Monsters."
Rockville Slugger - Blunt
Named after the city of Rockville, Maryland, this long and smooth baseball bat may look like an ordinary thing, but the spiky nails attached at the top make it an ideal melee weapon for dealing significant damage.
The Rockville Slugger deals 21 damage, has a 3.5 weight and a value of 133 caps. However, it has a relatively slow swing speed. Still, this is compensated by its effect of allowing a 40% less Action Points consumption when using V.A.T.S.
The Harvester - Bladed
Featured in the Fallout 4 add-on Far Harbor, this unique melee weapon has only damage of 9, which isn't very astonishing on its own; however, this weapon is really, really fast. So when you combine these two stats, you'll get a weapon that can deal significant damage very quickly.
If that isn't enough to get you onboard, this chainsaw-like weapon has a legendary effect that increases the chance of staggering an enemy when you hit them, making it almost impossible for them to attack. You can find The Harvester inside a steamer trunk at the Echo Lake Lumber settlement.
Super Sledge - Blunt
If you're going to go for a weapon that has a slow swing speed, it should deal tons of damage, and the Super Sledge is just that. With a 40 damage, this big boy has a miniature rocket propulsion system that sets it apart from other Sledgehammers and is just the thing that makes it deliver such powerful punches.
This melee weapon is ideal when facing a large number of melee enemies, and it will have no trouble killing weaker enemies with one or two swings. Still, keep in mind that this weapon is heavy and can only deliver a few blows when using V.A.T.S.
Butcher's Hook - Unarmed Weapons
Introduced in the Far Harbor add-on, this weapon might look like a simple hook to untrained eyes, but it packs the relentless legendary effect which refills Action Points when you do a critical hit.
Besides that, the Butcher's Hook has a 20 damage and a medium swing speed. Combine with its weight of 2 and the fact that it has a value of 160 caps; this unarmed weapon is a solid option for your melee build.
Shem Drowne Sword - Bladed
The Shem Drowne sword is a unique revolutionary sword you can obtain for completing the quest "The Gilded Grasshopper." This bladed weapon deals 16 damage and an additional radiation damage thanks to its Irradiated effect.
Keep in mind that this effect works in two ways, it deals radiation damage of 5, and it also applies three-second radiation damage over time, working similar to poison. Players can mod this weapon with an electrified and a stun pack mod.
Commie Whacker - Blunt
Introduced in the Add-on Nuka World, this melee weapon looks ridiculous, and quite frankly, it doesn't look like a weapon at all. Surprisingly, this thing deals 20 damage and has a decent medium swing speed. Plus, it's hilarious to go around the Commonwealth hitting things with a weapon that has "Democracy" written on it.
Moreover, you can upgrade the Commie Whacker with the bladed mod; this makes your enemies bleed when you hit them, dealing exceptional damage. Keep in mind that you'll need the Blacksmith perk to do this.
Deathclaw Gauntlet - Unarmed Weapons
This gauntlet has to be in the top 10 most badass weapons in Fallout 4. It basically gives the player the slashing power of the ferocious Deathclaws. As you can expect, a weapon like this deals incredibly high damage (25) and has a medium swing speed.
Players can actually add an extra claw to this handheld weapon as a mod, increasing the damage it can do. You can find the Deathclaw gauntlet when trading with Weapon merchants, as a rare raider drop or in front of the Deathclaw nest during "The Devil's Due" quest.
Mr. Handy Buzz Blade - Blade
Have you ever saw a Mr. Handy and thought to yourself, "damn, that thing looks terrifying," well, thanks to the Automatron add-on, you can harness all of Mr. Handy's power with the Mr. Handy buzz blade.
This melee weapon deals damage of 5, but it has a high-speed fire rate, working similarly to the auto axe from Fallout 3. Players can upgrade this bladed weapon to add an electrified mod, which adds electrical damage to the buzz blade.
General Chao's Revenge - Bladed
You might have heard of this weapon before as it has an excellent 28 damage and a 775 caps value. However, obtaining this weapon solely depends on how you handle the situation in the Drumlin Diner (which isn't a quest but a random encounter you'll get when approaching the Diner for the first time).
Players can add three different mods to General Chao's Revenge ( a serrated blade, an electrified blade, and an electrified serrated blade), but they'll need the blacksmith perk and the science perk to do so. Still, this weapon comes with the Troubleshooter's effect with deals 50% more damage to robotic enemies.
